PROJECT
SYNOPSIS
The
project envisages to enhance the infrastructure at 27 Blind Institutes
recognised by Department of Mass Education Extension, Govt. of West
Bengal and 2 Libraries under Directorate of Library Services, Govt.
of West Bengal.
Under the scope of the projrct, Computerised Braille Transcription
System developed by Webel Mediatronics Limited will be supplied
and installed at these Iinstitutes. Also training will be provided
to the existing staff of the above institutes on the IT based system.
SYSTEM
The
system will comprise of Text to Braille Conversion software,
Automatic Braille embosser etc.
IMPROVEMENT OF
RESOURCE
Availability
of Braille text in Bengali will be improved. The institutes will
be able to publish circulars, notices, question papers, class notes,
text books etc. readily an as and when required basis.
IT
EMPOWERING VISUALLY IMPAIRED
Visually
impaired person will be able to work with local language in Braille
which will get converted into text. Printing will be possible in
both Braille and Text without any assistance from a sighted person.
Thus visually impaired person will learn to work in computerised
environment.
