Free Travel:
The Delhi Transport Corporation offers full concession for bona fide blind persons in all DTC buses when traveling alone and charges only 50% fare for the escort for journeys within the city.

"The person interested has to obtain a medical certificate, indicating the extent of disability, from one of the specified hospitals in the city for this purpose. This medical certificates and proof of residence along with a duly-filled-in Application form (this application form can be obtained from the magistrate Office)
Should be produced in the office of the Magistrate in an effort to obtain the permanent Identity Card. The magistrate issues permanent Identity Card. The magistrate issues permanent Identity Card on behalf of the Department of Social Welfare only after a close scrutiny of the candidate's application form, proof of residence and the medical certificate. The applicant is now supposed to contact the DTC Headquarters and fill in another application form to this effect (this can be obtained from the DTC Headquarters). Now the permanent Identity Card issued by the magistrate must be produced here in order to procure this free pass, which DTC issues against a deposit of Rs. 10/- only.


Job Reservation:

1% of the vacancies are reserved for the blind in group C & D Posts.


Self-employment:

Allotment of Shop/Khokha/Thara free of cost to such blind persons who have been residing in Delhi for more than 5 years on application to the Director, social Welfare, Delhi Administration.


Reservation of Plots:

Reservation of 5% shops, 1% residential plots and 1% flats by D.D.A for the handicapped.


Hostel Facilities:
There is a hostel in the government school for the blind, which accommodates students of the same school and also college-going blind students.
